Hi.

Let us take you on an inspring adventure and provide you with a daily dose of trend bites.

FUTURE VILLAGES?

FUTURE VILLAGES?

When it comes to architecture, we usually think of walls, roofs and windows. In a more sophisticated sense you could also think of aesthetic forms, or perhaps even artistic value. However, for the people at Hello Wood architecture is much more than that.

They describe it as a philanthropic mission, social involvement, social responsibility, the creation of communities and a behavioral pattern; meaning architecture has an active influence on mentalities. Contemporary architecture has focused mostly on the role of the city within society. But what if for a moment we move away from the obsession with the city and revisit Gandhi’s famous words: “The future of the world lies in its villages”.

For 3 years students and professionals from all over the world gather in Hungary each summer to build a village from the ground up, using innovative wood construction techniques. The project is for everyone who is interested in a shared, social responsibility.

Millennials these days don’t like to be limited by conventional systems. Instead, they like to challenge the status quo and come up with alternative solutions. As the niche is becoming more mainstream we adapt to new ideas of what is normal. Are these community villages being built now still something only for the niche? Or is it perhaps an example of reversed urbanization?

With this village project, Hello Wood tries to find out if tomorrow’s villages will be about sustainability, survival or pleasure. What do you think? Join the debate!
