Wouldn’t it be great if you could experience all the pleasures nature has to offer, right from your living room? Correct answer is, hell yea it would! After finding solace in the tranquility of a tropical beach, creative entrepreneur Fred Galstaun decided to take on the challenge to make this dream reality. Together with various SMEs and the Technical University of Delft (NL), he came up with the Sensory Reality POD (SRP).
The SRP synchronizes audio-visual experiences with scent, temperature, air flow, tremble, taste and light frequencies to mimic a hyper surreal environment. It literally tingles all your senses at once, which in its turn activates your brain on a multitude of areas. The pod also uses biometrical sensors (what?) to optimize the experience for each individual user. These sensors (i.e. heart rate and breathing) check whether or not you are having an optimal experience, and if not they adjust the cabin accordingly.
This all-sensory encompassing device is not just for pleasure, as it is currently being tested in the medical field as well. Fred’s company SENSIKS is hoping to improve the quality of life of people with a mental disability and help people who are suffering from depression, anxiety or dementia. Imagine the possibilities!
Make sure to get a glimpse of what the SRP is all about by watching the videos down below. The first one shows you the actual experience of entering and experiencing the pod (fast forward to 1:00), the second one is more of a general look & feel.
Hey SENSIKS. When looking for test subjects, think of MARE will ya? We’d more than happily oblige!
