A VOTING REVOLUTION?
The voting system has roughly been the same for the last century in most countries. You decide on which party best represents your mindset and choose one of their delegates on the voting list. But most of the time not one party represents your world views 100%, right?
Time for a revolution! Everything is modular nowadays, from your phone subscription to your education program. Why hasn't our way of voting changed over the last 100 years? Dutch innovator Rudy van Belkom felt dissatisfied with the current Dutch election system and is propagating a new vision on voting: Het Nieuwe Kiezen.
This is how it works: you vote per topic for the party you feel aligns with your opinions on this topic. For instance, you can vote on education for a more liberal party and for a topic like environment for a more leftist party. Van Belkom feels this way of voting shifts the focus more to a debate on these topics than on the profiling of politicians stating one-liners that lack nuance.
Check this 2 minute video (in Dutch) for a visual explanation on Het Nieuwe Kiezen and participate in the 'stem experiment'.
