In a collaboration aimed at merging the provocative with the practical, Dutch FashionTech designer Anouk Wipprecht and car brand Audi have joined style-savvy forces. The latest A4 collection is for some part fresh of the 3D printer. Here’s a sneak-peek at what happens when a tech-inspired fashion designer meets a luxury carmaker; smart cars and smart dresses.
We’re great fans of their interdisciplinary approach. For Anouk and Audi, cars and dresses aren’t merely accessories: they’re interfaces. Fashion is, according to Anouk, all about expression and communication. Viewing fashion in this light, removes the sense of passivity and instead celebrates the ability of cars and dresses to influence your social interactions.
With help of the technique, the design process is more rapid, more explorative and so much more experimental, she explains. In this way you are able to just do something, try something out, make mistakes and fix them. It gives so much more space for failure and serendipity and it makes development and innovation much more playful. Thanks Anouk, for so elegantly making the point that the way forward is by embarking on serendipitous journeys like this one.
